OMG, the horror! There are no words… this is so awful. Whatever people might say about Obama, at least he’s not this irredeemably square.

On that closing statement, I think Laura just forgot to read the whole cue card. She meant to say “…thank you for the privilege of serving America TO THE MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX AND THE ULTRA-WEALTHY ON A SILVER PLATTER these last eight years.” It’s like that Twilight Zone where the aliens’ sacred text, “To Serve Man,” turns out to be a cookbook.

They listed Pat Tillman? Like they fucking care.

They shot Pat Tillman and covered up his death. Now they list him as a hero. Fuck them. They can’t have him. He’s our hero. Forever.

I almost posted this myself. My favorite thing about this? The Secret Service must really be phoning it in at this point. I mean, wouldn’t you hope that, if a would-be assassin managed to squeeze off one shot, the Secret Service guys would jump in front of the pres and/or tackle him to the ground before the shooter could fire shot #2? And yet this guy was able to throw not one, but BOTH shoes, right at Bush’s head. Correct me if I’m wrong, but shoes thrown by an Iraqi travel at a slower rate than bullets from a gun, right? Awseome. You know the rest of that journalist’s day had to suck, but he had one big moment of being a hero to a lot of people around the world.

I think we need a sequel to Thomas Frank’s book, “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” We can call it “WTF is Up with Alaska?” It is seriously wrong that a state with one of the smallest populations in the country hasn’t finished counting. Don’t they have computers up there? Did they scratch their votes on whale skins or something? Crazy. But hey, GO BEGICH!!!
